Sometimes called "the storyteller of the saints," Mary Fabyan Windeatt (1910–1979) was an American Catholic writer known primarily for her children's books that focused on saints and Christian virtues. She spent much of her life dedicated to writing inspirational literature, particularly aimed at young readers. A Third Order Dominican, Windeatt contributed a regular “Children’s Page” to the monthly Dominican magazine The Torch, where many of her books first appeared in serial form.
Windeatt's books are celebrated for their engaging storytelling and strong moral lessons, based on the lives of saints. Her writing style is accessible and aimed at conveying spiritual truths in a way that make the stories of saints relatable and inspiring for young readers. Her works have continuously been used in Catholic homes to teach about faith, courage, and the examples set by the saints. These books not only recount the lives of the saints but also emphasize their virtues and the impact of their faith on their lives and the world around them.
